FAQs

We do not accept health insurance. Esuna Health is a membership based practice, where services are offered for a low monthly cost. This is how we are able to provide a level of service and flexibility not found in a standard insurance based healthcare system.
-
Concierge medicine clinics charge a membership fee in addition to billing insurance companies. This makes them significantly more expensive than DPC, as they have to allocate significant resources to billing services and interfacing with insurance companies.

No, DPC is not insurance. We recommend patients continue to carry insurance with a PPO, HMO, or high-deductible plan for "big ticket" items like hospitalizations, surgery, and specialist care. You can typically use your insurance for labs, imaging, and medications ordered by Esuna Health.
If you have a high-deductible plan, DPC often saves money. With family deductibles of $5,000-$8,000, you’re already paying full price for primary care. A DPC membership costs less than most deductibles and includes unlimited visits.
-
Yes! As of 2025, you can allocate up to $150/month for an individual or $300/month for a family from your HSA to pay for DPC membership. It is good practice to check with your accountant/ financial advisor to ensure you qualify.
-
Consider DPC if you want to have:
Unrushed, longer visits
Same or next-day appointments with your actual doctor
No copays or surprise bills
Direct access to your doctor through text, email, call, or virtual visits
Personalized care designed to keep you healthy and out of the ER
There is a growing number of primary care physicians joining the DPC movement. Learn more at DPC Nation

Yes! Medicare patients can join Esuna Health DPC, but it’s important to understand that:
Medicare will not pay for your DPC membership
We will NOT submit a claim to Medicare, and you should not attempt to get Medicare to cover the cost of your DPC membership
You can still use your Medicare benefits for specialists, hospitalizations, imaging, and prescriptions

If you have a PPO insurance plan, we can refer you to any specialist within your network. If you are uninsured, we can seek specialists who have transparent cash prices for their services.
If you have an HMO insurance plan, you will likely need to have a primary care physician (PCP) who is designated on your plan to generate the referral for you. If needed, we can provide a detailed letter explaining medical necessity of the referral to support appropriate requests.
